Mr granny had cousins who lived in Ft. Davis. Granny was 5th generation native. McCasland stock in Taylor county. Makes me 7th generation native. I was raised in West Texas and have loved the trans-Pecos region all my life. It's harsh but beautiful. A man can enjoy solitude there. I have a few old stories. Wish I had heard more.
What a fascinating story. The number of unheard cowboy stories must be too high to count
There are a lot of them out there. A good number have been written down and collected in a number of volumes.
What a great Texas tale! Thanks for sharing this!
Thank you.
But, it wasn't a steer! It was a yearling bull. They turned it loose and no one castrated it.
Good point and good catch. I’ll make the change.
