Not alway eloquent, but always colorful, the apothegms of Texans are matched only by hillbillies in Appalachia, Cajuns in Louisiana, and lunatics in an asylum.
Oh man, my maternal grandma, born in 1895, had a bunch of colorful "sayings".
This time of year "it's hotter than a road lizard!".
Someone could "grin like a cow eatin' yellowjackets".
It was so cold "they were shaking like a dog shittin' peach seeds."
Running late? "Maybe they went to shit and the hogs ate 'em!"
If she wanted to diss someone's looks, "Why your ass would make her a Sunday face!"
Both her parents were born before the Civil War so I suspect these all go way back!
These are fantastic! Thanks for sharing, Gary.
You’re welcome! Give me time and I’ll think of some others! 😁
