'Steal Like an Artist' was one of a very few watershed books on creative craft for me—it wasn't so much that it taught me something new as it was an "aha" moment of recognizing and embracing things done by instinct.

I've read a good number of creativity books, so can't say I learned anything new from Steal Like an Artist, but I appreciate how Kleon presented the material, and it's never a bad idea to tread over old ground in new shoes.

Dobie isn't everyone's cup of Joe. He was a celebrated regional writer back in his day, but his style can be a bit old fashioned. Nevertheless, he wrote some of best books on Texas and was hugely influential on many Texas writers.
