Good read this morning, I'll have to learn more about the Golead massacre. I just purchased your book, so thanks for the suggestion. If you want to read a good book about the Apache, read "Now I Surrender" by Alvaro Enrique. It's one of the best I've read, and includes real history and fiction. Title taken from the last words said by Geronimo when he surrendered to the US Army.

I just finished Now I Surrender. It was so good that I jumped right into Enrigue’s You Dreamed of Empires. You’ll like Blood Touching Blood.

Thank you for the kind words—and for picking up my book, I hope you enjoy it. Thank you, as well, for the Apache book recommendation. I read a number of works in preparation for writing my novel, but not this one. My protagonist is Victorio, who was a real-life Apache, so I spend the bulk of my time researching him. A British historian (of all things) wrote a wonderful three volume history on Victorio and his battles against the U.S. Cavalry.

Regarding the study of Goliad, I’d suggest you pick up Massacre: The Goliad Witnesses—first hand accounts by some of the survivors.

Excellent writing as always. As I have stated previously, I look forward to reading your posts. I might have brought it up in the past, but through my genealogy studies, I have found a relation to the great Texas Ranger John B. Jones. I have found is grave less than a mile from my Apartment in Austin. From my research, he was quite a Ranger. Keep on writing and I will keep on reading. Love ya brother!

Thank you, bwana. I appreciate you as a reader but more as a friend. Cool family history.

It leaves a sick feeling in the belly. The execution seems little different than marching them up a pyramid for sacrifice. Santa Anna thought it was sacrifice for his empire but it was a true sacrifice in blood for Texas. Always Remember.
