Hard men. Tough men. And yes, honorable. I always thought the movie did a very good job with this story within a story. Tom Harmon did a masterful job portraying "Pea Eye". I think I have mentioned it before to you, but I have been fortunate enough to have seen Loving's gravesite (as well as Bose Ikard's) in person on numerous occasions. Great, great story. - Jim
Interesting fact, they are one in the same. Tom Harmon was Timothy Scott. Scott was the name movie credits are under. Another interesting fact, his ashes were spread on a ranch in Plum Creek, Texas -west of Waco and south of Corsicana. Excellent character actor.

I believe you mean Timothy Scott, who portrayed Pea Eye. But I agree with you completely—tough time and tough men. And honorable men.

That I didn't know. Thanks for the information.
Easy to see Gus and Pea in this story.
McMurtry based the Gus-Pea-Call and Texas burial episode on the Loving-Wilson-Goodnight and Texas burial history.
Great history! What real heroes can accomplish when under duress!
Thank you. You never know, a hero that might be lurking in you just waiting for the right time to exert himself.
